Provide proof of residency and local car insurance and present prior license information. If you possess a valid driver’s license you will only need to take a written exam and eye test.

Vehicle Registration

New state residents are required to register their vehicle within 20 days of moving.

Provide a completed application form, out-of-state title, and bring your vehicle to a DMV office for verification of VIN number. A smog certificate is required on all vehicles and must be presented within 90 days of registering your vehicle. Vehicles purchased within 90 days of moving to California may be subject to additional sales tax.
